I picked up crochet about 2 years ago when I moved away from home to Grad school, from which I just graduated with a Master's degree in Biostatistics. I took to it like I'd been crocheting my entire life. It was the most natural thing in the world. Besides scarves and hats, I haven't much ventured into clothes, it's a little intimidating... what if it doesn't fit right? All that work... I'd cry. I've also been slow to start on blankets, I like the instant gratification of small projects like hats, or plushies, but I have just recently jumped into blanket land with both feet, I've got like 4 of them in various states of completion on my craft room floor.
I've been trying to pick up knitting and its been slow going, apparently I can knit just fine, it just takes me 3 billion years. I started a scarf last winter and it took me over 3 weeks to knit about a foot of scarf (I still haven't finished it). I think perhaps, I should have started with an easier knitted pattern, but I fell in love with the pattern and just couldn't wait for proficiency before starting it. Once I have mastered it though, I will venture out into clothing. I love the look of knitted garments.
